Maven Collective's Annual Pay It Forward Initiative 2022
Estimated Read Time: 7 minutes
Intended Audience: Maven Collective Clients, Non-Profit Organizations, Charity Organizations
2022 has been another eventful year in the multiple years we’ve tagged globally as ‘unprecedented’. With so much impacting so many, we leaned in to give more, with more change-making organizations – 16 this year, to be exact. And thankfully, the more we grow, the more we give with 1% of our annual revenue dedicated to our Pay It Forward Initiative each year!
About the Annual 'Pay It Forward' Initiative
Each year, the Mavens gather with great anticipation to support philanthropic organizations that are changing their communities, often with ripple impacts of change globally.
“October is my favorite month of the year as Maven Collective gathers to support organizations globally that inspire us to be the change we want to see in the world. Each year the Mavens select our favorite charities that drive world-changing initiatives by life-changing organizations. With our donations, we hope they will not only impact the local communities, but also the larger global community. The Mavens’ Pay It Forward Initiative gives us all fuel to grow year-round by motivating us to create more impactful work to make more positive change in the world.”

Pay It Forward 2022: The Charities We Support
Fistula Foundation
The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA)
UNICEF for Ukraine
Devastating acts have long-lasting impacts that cannot be undone, but if there's something we can do with our resources to help those in need, we must act without hesitation. Our support assists UNICEF for Ukraine and BC SPCA to continue their efforts to alleviate some of that anguish in the world, and I am honoured to be a small part of their mission."

Inn from the Cold
"Inn from the Cold is a local charity here in Calgary that is dedicated solely to helping families who are experiencing a housing crisis. Their mission is to help families overcome the obstacles that can lead to a cycle of homelessness by providing emergency shelters, supportive housing, and prevention & diversion. For over 25 years, IFTC has helped families find stability in times of crisis which is why we believe they are an important organization to contribute to."
- Mandy Brar
Downtown Eastside Women's Centre
“The DEWC provides a much-needed safe space along with practical services for women dealing with violence, homelessness, addictions and poverty in Downtown Eastside. Women and children are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, injustice, and injury, so supporting this organization makes a huge impact.”
- Arianna Ardenne
Dress for Success
"This year I am donating to Dress for Success Oregon. This local chapter of the international not for profit organization directly helps women in Oregon to achieve economic independence, through providing one-on-one supports that address and eliminate any barriers women have in securing their place in the workforce. Services include career counseling, resume prep, and interview guidance, along with providing a complete professional capsule wardrobe to carry them through the beginning stages of their new career with confidence. Through helping women, Dress for Success helps entire families and communities to step up into opportunities that empower and strengthen them."

Nature Conservancy of Canada
Talk Suicide Canada
"I am a huge fan of the Talk Suicide Canada and the work that they do to help those in need. Over the last few years, mental health has become more important than ever with so many people affected by the global pandemic. I am grateful for the Crisis Centre of Canada being there for people during these extremely difficult times. Our support helps the Crisis Centre of Canada continue to help those that need it most."

City Reach Care Society
Squamish Helping Hands Society
Canadian Mental Health BC
“The pandemic has brought unprecedented disruption to ours and the lives of our loved ones, in which mental health often plays a key role - but often gets ignored for obvious reasons. Canadian Mental Health BC helps bring more attention to this matter.”
– Chloe Luu-Tran
Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Children
“While attending a recent candlelight vigil for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children, I was both deeply moved and completely horrified to hear the powerful stories of two young Indigenous women who courageously shared their experiences of violence and trauma due to deep-routed colonialism. Justice for Girls also spoke at the event, echoing the stories of the 2 young women with alarming statistics. The organization's call to action inspired me to speak out about these issues and to lend financial support where possible.”

My Sea to Sky
Red Cross
“I always felt admiration for their work and today I feel fortunate to be able to contribute to the immense humanitarian work carried out by the Red Cross in different parts of the world such as Ukraine, Somalia, and my own country Venezuela, providing medicines and medical attention to the neediest population.”

TisBest Philanthropy
We are more than grateful to have TisBest join our list of beloved clients this year. This was an honor for the Mavens as we joined forces to help elevate their marketing tactics as the organization celebrated its 15-year anniversary. The Mavens are also proud to be supporters in their mission to redefine gifting through philanthropy. With each TisBest gift card, you can choose to support the charities and the organizations closest to your heart to spread the gift of good.
The Shoebox Project / Opération boîte à chaussures
For our annual holiday event this year, the Mavens also coordinated to fill three shoeboxes with essentials and gifts for local women in need. The Shoebox Project / Opération boîte à chaussures is a great initiative to share the warmth of the holiday season with people in need.
